What counts as an emergency
Call straight away if you see any of these. If it is something else and you are unsure, call anyway. That is what the line is for.

- Collapse, fainting or a seizure
- Swallowed something poisonous: chocolate, lilies, antifreeze, medicines, rat bait
- Bleeding that will not stop after five minutes of pressure
- Hit by a car or a fall from height, even if they seem fine
- A swollen, tight belly with retching (dogs)
- Straining to pee with nothing coming out (male cats)
- A rabbit or guinea pig that has stopped eating or passing droppings
