Your first week with a new kitten
A quiet room, a few hiding spots and patience. Everything you need for a calm start.

Set up one quiet room
Kittens feel safest in a small space. Give them a room with food, water, a litter tray away from the food, a bed and somewhere to hide, like a cardboard box on its side.
Let them explore the rest of the home gradually over a week or two.
Food and water
Keep feeding what the breeder or shelter used for the first week, then change slowly over five to seven days if you want to switch.
Kittens need small meals three to four times a day until around six months.
The first vet visit
Book a check within the first week. We look at eyes, ears, heart and tummy, check for parasites and plan vaccinations and neutering.
Bring them in a carrier with a towel that smells of home.
