Keeping pets cool through an Athens summer
Walk early, find shade and know the signs of heatstroke.

Walk at the right time
Pavements in July can be hot enough to burn paws. Walk early and late, and choose parks over tarmac.
Cool homes
Keep blinds drawn, offer several water bowls and frozen treats. Rabbits and guinea pigs struggle above 25°C; a frozen water bottle wrapped in a towel helps.
Recognising heatstroke
Heavy panting, drooling, wobbliness or collapse need urgent care. Move to shade, wet with cool (not ice-cold) water and call us on the way.
